John retired from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in Reno Nevada at the rank of Lieutenant in 2003. After a 23 year career (18 years in Detectives/Narcotics), John had a desire to open his own detective agency to provide the highest level of service and return to the type of work that he enjoys.
In addition to major crimes investigations and management of the Major Crimes Unit(Murder, Robbery, Assault with with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, sexual assault, kidnapping etc.), John excelled in the field of accident reconstruction, interview and interrogation and electronic surveillance. John was awarded four commendation medals while at the Sheriff's Office, two bronze stars ( Sierra Chemical Explosion 1/07/1998 and Mt.Rose Homicide (Jack Strawbride and Daniel Rasmussen murders) 10/13/1991), Medal of Valor (for an officer involved shooting on Red Rock Rd. on 5/17/1991) and a distinguished service medal for his many years of experience and dedication in the Detective Division (John had a clearance rate in major cases of over 90%, awarded 4/29/1998).
The day after retiring from the Sheriff's Office in November 2003, John Yaryan Investigations was founded.
John began the detective agency by opening his office above the Law Firm of Fahrendorf, Viloria, Oliphant and Oster. After working at that location for a couple of years, John moved to a larger, more accessable office on California Avenue in Reno. John now has offices in Nevada and Arizona providing top notch service to those that expect the best.
John is a member of the California Licensed Investigators Association (CALI), American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), previous member of the Better Business Bureau, Rotary International and past president of the Crisis Call Center.
